I can’t lie, I love spice and in particular chili so as soon as I heard that Jones the Grocer have introduced a special chili menu I had to pop over and try it out.
There are tons of different types of chilis, with heat levels ranging from 2,000 through to 350,000 on the chili heat level, but don’t worry this isn’t a menu which you’ll find too hot to handle.
“While there are one or two dishes that are quite spicy, we didn’t want something that people wouldn’t enjoy. We’ve used a really wide range of heat levels and flavours in the menu – Group Executive Chef Alex Ferriss
There are eight dishes on the menu with enough choice to take you from breakfast through to dessert.
We started off with the mojito which was perfectly spicy and warming with the chili hitting the back of the throat in a pleasant way, we’re hoping this stays on the menu as it was really good. We followed this with a fire roasted tomato & chipotle soup topped with avocado, which we loved.
Spicy Quinoa Shakshouka and hanger steak with yucca fries followed. We loved the Steak and the yucca fries are particularly morish but regretted ordering the shakshouka as it was not to our taste.
Desert followed with a pineapple and jalapeño cheesecake. Whilst this was pleasant, we would have preferred it to be a bit more spicy, and admit to ordering ‘off menu’ where we had quick fork battle over the raspberry tart with white chocolate which was sublime – no rush it’s on the menu all year around.

- · Pineapple and jalapeno chili baked cheesecake
- · Habanero mojito mocktail
